Hof Gorei - A Peaceful Scenery

Island Garden City of Samal is a home of beautiful beaches. There are so many beaches resort in Samal and we always go to resorts which are accessible in Sasa Barge but this time we choose a different path. Hof Gorei is located in Kaputian which is accessible  through Sta. Ana Wharf.


Hof Gorei is known for their quiet and peaceful scenery. They have also a unique way of delivering their good service. Hof Gorei is a great place to unwind and escape from a busy city life. A good place to have your own little paradise.



Here's a list of reasons why you will fall in love with Hof Gorei.


1. Easy booking and transportation.

Hof Gorei is very quick to response to inquiry and bookings. They have their own boat that goes to Sta Ana to pick up their customer and it is free. Pick up time 11:00 am and 2:30 pm.


2. Free breakfast and welcome drink

The moment you arrive in the resort. The butlers will be waiting for their guest and will be serving welcome drinks. I did not like it though. It was not cold and sweet. I really like resorts with free breakfast because you will be saving money for breakfast.

3. Personal Butler.

Each room has their own personal butler. This is the unique thing that Hof Gorei has that you can't find in other resorts. Your personal butler will be the one to deliver your food to your room and will be assisting you whatever you need.


4. Food is awesome!

The food taste like from a five star hotel. It was really really good.

5. Unique room design

The exterior design of the room is unique. In the upper part is your room with veranda which will give you a very nice view of the resort and the beach. The lower part is like a veranda also but it is where you will eat your food. You will be having your meal with a beautiful scenery.

6. Lots of plants, flowers and animals

This place will give you a vibe that you are in your own rest house in the province. It is like a private resort with few people/and guest. It is full of trees and plants. The sounds of the birds and winds will surely makes you feel relax.

We enjoyed our stay here but I have to be transparent because we were not really 100% satisfied and here's why..


1. The food was very expensive

The average price would be 350 pesos good for 1 person, 58 pesos for 1 cup of rice. The food is only good for 1 person and not shareable except for soup and noodles such as pancit. The prices written in the menu is exclusive of 12% VAT so if it is written 350 pesos it means you are paying more than that. The quantity is small. It feels like you are on a diet that is why after we check out and went back to Davao City, we go straight to S&R to order pizza and burger xD


2. The don't sell junk food

There is a corkage for drinks and food but they are not selling any drinks and junk foods at that time. I don't see the point. 


3. No restaurant and reception area.

You can only eat in your room or anywhere you want like beach front and pool area. Well I like eating in the veranda in our room but of course I would love it if they have restaurant and reception area. 

They have only bar area with only beers at that time.

4. Interior Room needs update


The room is not spacious. The TV is not flat screen and I am not sure if it is working. No Wifi. No design. I wish they will put paintings at least.

5. Pool

The pool is big but the chlorine is strong and for some reason the water is not cold. I expected it to be cold because we were surrounded by trees.

6. Jacuzzi is not working

We hike for 217 steps early in the morning to go to the top of the resorts because our butler said we should check out the view and their jacuzzi but to our dismay the jacuzzi is not working. The view is awesome though.

7. Not good for children and old people.

If you are travelling with old people or children better choose room that is fronting the beach because other rooms are located above and you need to climb the stairs. It feels like hiking because it is rough and steep. 






How to go Hof Gorei:

Just go to Sta. Ana Wharf and wait for the Hof Gorei boat to arrive. If you can't see the boat just be attentive someone will be shouting or bringing sign Hof Gorei!
