List of Restaurants in Davao City!

I love eating and trying different restaurants. I share the same hobby with my boyfriend that's why whenever there are special occasions or it is pay day we usually find and look for restaurants we haven't tried yet or go back again to our favorite restaurants.

This post is just a list of my favorite restaurants here in Davao City. I did not include Asian Restaurants because I already made a list of Asian Restaurants here in Davao in my previous post.

Ready? Here we Go!

1. Swiss Delli - The Deli offers sausages, hams, bacons, cheeses, sauces, US Angus Steaks,
Australian tenderloin steaks, Lamb meats, Ostrich Steaks, Turkey with special roasting arrangements and a wide array of imported and local deli goods. They also sell wine from different countries. I even bought a bottle of Australian wine in a mid-range price only.

2. Ranchero - We were just looking for a restaurant in Abreeza that time and we found this restaurant. I love the theme where the waiters wear something like a cowboy. The food was great as well!

3. Spirale Ristorante -  Located in Abreeza Mall.  It's extensive Italian Menu. We went there to eat pizza because that's what our pregnant friend wants to eat. I really like the ambiance. The pizza were satisfying.

4. Cafe France -  Located at Gmall, The Peak. They don't only sell coffee and bread but they also sell pizza and meal which I usually order. I can't remember how many times I been here but it is really one of my favorite because the serving is big and the wifi connection is good.

5. Coco's Grill - Located at Torres and Mabini St Corner Araullo St. I prefer the one in Mabini St because it is smaller than the one in Torres therefore I feel I have some privacy. The ambiance is good. They have musical instrument you are free to play and sing at the same time. I also love the fact that you can order the menu of the other restaurants in the same compound.

6. Gerry's Grill - Gerry's offers scrumptious food ranging from grilled seafood,Filipino & Asian favorites, tastefully prepared beer mates and pica-pica. Among all the restaurants at The Peak Gmall this one is my favorite because they have lots to offer and I have never tasted anything from Gerry's Grill that I was not satisfied.

7. Wings and Dips -  I am more fond of beef and pork than chicken but my boyfriend is addicted to fried chicken that's why he wants to try out Wings and Dips. I like that they don't only serve one piece chicken but four based on the meal we ordered. Their sauce also taste good. My favorite is their Carbonara it is so creamy.

8. Toryanos - Though I prefer Penongs than Toryanos but their Buko Salad is just soooo delicious! The best buko salad for me haha xD

9. Naty's House Letchon - This one is not really a restaurant, I guess it is a Diner or whatever! I just include this here because I really really love their letchon. Located at 836 Gov Chavez St which is near in my office we usually eat breakfast here. We eat Letchon for breakfast hehe Heavy Breakfast eh!

10. Antonio's Bar and Grill - They are quite similar with Ranchero. They serve delicious Filipino food. I love the ambiance. The food was great and it taste clean.

11. Barrio Bistro - Located at Duterte St. The first time we went here we ordered buy 1 take 1 pizza. At first I was hesitant to go there because from outside I thought it was a very small restaurant but when we went inside it was  not really that small and I love the drawings on the wall. The second time we went there we did not order pizza but we ordered a meal.

I guess that's all for now. I am not sure if I miss something because of my poor memory but if ever I did I will just include it in my List of Favorite Restaurant Part 2 along with the new restaurants I will be trying. Enjoy!

Beat The Summer with Ice Giants!

It is already Summer Vacation here in Philippines wohhh! We don't really have those four seasons here but we celebrate Summer Vacation starting April-May/June because we don't have class and it is really hot during these months.

Our problem during summer is the heat of the sun. Usually temperature ranges within 30-35°C in March and expected to get higher and higher when it reaches April and May. In a country where AC is not common in residential area, it is hard to deal with the hot temperature, good thing we have many ways to beat the summer heat.

How do we beat the summer heat? Aside from going to beach, we also find relief by eating cold and frozen desserts!

When I am craving for halo2x or any cold desserts I usually go to Ice Giants Desserts and Snacks.  Known for their gigantic servings of ice desserts, it’s a fun way to beat the heat with family and friends!

Below are my favorites in their menu.

Halo-halo (Tagalog: [haˈlo-haˈlo], "mixed together") is a popular Filipino dessert with mixtures of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans, jello and fruits. It is served in a tall glass or bowl. For me Ice Giants serve the best halo2x in town!

For a mango lover like me their Mango Giant is really satisfying.

There are lots of other cold treats Ice Giants offers and I can't name it all but I believe their strawberry sundae and cookies and cream sundae are worth to try.

What I also like about Ice Giants is that they don't only offer cold treats but also delicious snacks. Above photos are included in their menu. They also have fried chicken, sausage and etc. My favorite is their pizza because it taste like a homemade pizza cooked by a loving mother.

 Ice Giants Location:

1. Santa Ana Ave, Poblacion District, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur
2. Door #1 Damosa Gateway Commercial Complex, J.P. Laurel Avenue, Lanang, Davao City, 8000.

Filipino Street Foods!

We Filipinos love street food. Every time we stroll around the downtown area, we can't help but to buy street food. We also eat street food after class, work and church service. I am not really sure why we love eating street food maybe because it is cheap, available, or it is just fun eating outside while standing and talking with your friends and family. Well I guess we just can't resist the flavors of these street foods.

Below are the list of street foods in Philippines especially Davao City. Most are my favorites while some are mostly Filipino's favorite.

1. Isaw -  made from barbecued pig or chicken intestines.  The intestines are well-cleaned and boiled before grilling over charcoal. It has somehow found it's way to name every other animal meat organ barbecue after itself.

2 Fishball, Kikiam, Squidball and etc.

3. Fruit Slices -  Slices of different fruits such as Green Mango, Papaya, Jicama (Singkamas), Guave, Pineapple. These fruits slices come in 5-10 pesos per pack and your choice of condiments (Salt,Vinegar,Soysauce,Chili Powder)

4. Boiled / Grilled Corn

5. Banana Cue - Deep fry Banana  coated with sugar. There are also Camote Cue (Deep Fry sweet potato coated with sugar). You can also buy grilled Banana with margarine and sugar.

6.  Buko Juice

7.  Kwek Kwek - Deep fry boiled egg coated with color orange flour. It usually come with cucumber, salt and vinegar.

8. Samalamig - from the root word lamig meaning cold, are prepared beverages that contain sago (tapioca pearls) and gulaman (gelatin), and are usually flavored with syrup from a wide variety of fruit extracts.

9. Siomai -  is either steamed or fried. It is commonly eaten with a dipping sauce composed of a mix of soy sauce, calamansi extract, and chili sauce. Before I can only eat this in Chinese restaurant but now it is available in street at a very low price.

10. Taho - made of fresh soft/silken tofu, arnibal (sweetener and flavoring), and sago pearl (similar to tapioca pearls). This is really a very healthy food!

11. Last But not the Least Balut!!! - is a developing duck embryo (fertilized duck egg) that is boiled and eaten in the shell. Honestly I am not fond of Balut but I don't say it taste disgusting. For me it taste okay but I don't really eat Balut because of its looks and I feel it is similar to abortion haha. Well I include it in the list because many Filipinos addicted to this and this is a very healthy food. Rich in Protein.

While enjoying the good taste of street food we should also make sure that what or where we are eating are clean. We can judge it by looking at the vendor, the place and how were the foods being prepared. If you are unsure better not to buy especially if you have a weak stomach but don't miss out the fun in the street!
